Lila weekly Virtual practice on zoom

Every Sunday morning I lead a 30 minute virtual, donation based somatic activated healing practice online. Together we drop in, get still, move, activate, let go, and release to a curated playlist specifically designed to help us connect to what’s being suppressed in the body and allow it to be danced through us.

After a brief welcome and opening, I will be guiding us through a combination of meditation/stillness, free-flow movement and somatic postures (aka: body keys). With regular practice we become better able to regulate our nervous systems and be with big emotions. We become less reactive to life and able to experience more peace, joy, forgiveness, purpose, connection, and freedom.

ATTENTION: This is a judgement free experience, come exactly as you are. No dance experience is necessary. This is not about how you move, it’s about learning to let go. This practice will teach you how to quiet your mind and come back to your body to feel and release.

Lila 1:1 Virtual Sessions

We begin by dropping in together, becoming present with our body, and creating space for the Lila Movement practice to enter our hearts. I, along with a curated playlist, will guide us through a somatic movement journey as we vacillate between movement and stillness throughout the experience. In the stillness portions of the practice, I will guide you to soften and allow what is inside to come to the surface to be felt, to be honored. In the movement portions, you’ll release— surrender to the experience, letting the rhythm take you, giving your body the freedom to be fully expressed through organic movement. At times in the session I will guide you to follow me through some specific somatic postures to support your experience.

This is not about performing, looking a certain way, or being a “good” dancer. With practice, you will become more fluid in your movements and in sync with the music. This is all about letting go, temporarily abandoning the mind and allowing your body to move freely. Over time it will become second nature to tune into the inner world of your body and release through natural expression. You will develop your rhythm, soften into your femininity, learn to be with, feel, and safely express big emotions. You will begin to trust yourself, gain freedom in your body, and deepen the connection to yourself and your joy.

Lila In-Person Collaborations

Are you a facilitator or leader in the feminine healing space? Include Lila Movement in your next ceremony, workshop or retreat. This unique practice is a beautiful way to incorporate a somatic release experience into your personal and spiritual growth containers. Often we are invited into experiences that crack us open, make us aware of the emotional pain stored inside of our bodies and leave us feeling lost and unsure how to be with it all.

Lila Movement connects us to the deepest parts of ourselves we have locked away for years, unknowingly abandoning ourselves over and over in the name of being strong and resilient. When we give ourselves permission to collapse into the truth of what we are carrying, the body is given space to organically express what is inside through its own natural rhythms. This is liberating in a way that no other modality I’ve found, can guide us into alone. I believe when Somatic Release is combined with other therapies and healing practices, their medicine is that much more potent and transformational.

We are inundated with information, over consuming other peoples ideas, beliefs and perspectives, searching for the answer, an escape from our numbness. Lila Movement Somatic Release isn’t information, it is embodiment. It isn’t about adopting someone else’s ideas and beliefs, it’s about tuning into your own inner wisdom — you create the experience with your own body. The clarity and freedom we seek is not out there, it is inside of us. We are so busy distracting ourselves from our pain, we don’t want to accept that being with it and allowing it to be felt, is the exact medicine that liberates us.

The magic is truly inside of us. My spiritual teacher shared something that felt true for me in my journey, he said, “somatic release picks up where traditional talk therapy leaves off”. We can only talk about story of our trauma for so long, eventually we must quiet the mind, become present with the emotions held inside, and feel them. It is a daily practice to be where our body is, to learn to separate the feeling from the story, and to be with painful emotions as they move through us.

For most of us, this kind of work begins when we reach our breaking point. A life altering event collapses our world or we become so tired of trying to keep it all together that we finally surrender and soften, allowing ourselves to be cared for in a new way.
